six steps to Welsh

Follow these six easy steps to ‘grow’ your Welsh with Cadw Swn:

1 Relax. Listen to one of the the relaxation tracks and relax with the calming music.

2 Read through an episode of the story while listening to the script being read aloud. The Welsh and English are printed side-by-side in your course file, so that you always have all the vocabulary to hand. 

3 Read through the story again, this time listening to the story read over classical music, to ‘float’ language into your memory.

4 Close your course file and listen to the baroque music with the story read softly in the background. Either picture the events in the story, or simply listen to the music, it’s up to you. This track will anchor the language in your mind.

5 Sleep on it! Let the ‘seeds’ we planted ‘grow’ overnight, and let your subconscious mind do the hard work.

6 The following day, or some other time, read through the story and work through the exercises in the course book. Then carry on with the next lesson after a break, or on another day. You’ll be amazed at how quickly and enjoyably you learn! 


CADW SWN is designed for people with no previous knowledge of Welsh, although it can also be used successfully by those with some knowledge of Welsh, as a refresher course, or as a supplement to those already attending an evening class. The course has been thoroughly tested, both in the home and in evening classes.
